26th Annual Snake Alley Criterium

May 23-24, 2008 - Voted the 5th Best Criterium in the U.S. by a national cycling magazine, the weekend of racing excitement gets under way Friday, May 23, with the 80-mile Burlington Road Race. On Saturday, watch top cyclists from throughout the U.S. as they race up Snake Alley, "the crookedest street in the world."

Heritage Days

September 27-28, 2008 - In it's 21st year, come enjoy live music, lots of family activities, great food and historical demonstrations highlight this fun-filled celebration of our community's rich, multiethnic heritage held in downtown Burlington.

Trick or Treat

Thursday Oct. 30th 4:00-6:00 pm - Participating businesses provide free goodies to all children in Halloween costumes. Join the parade of costumes while you enjoy your stroll down Jefferson Street. You might even find some surprise tricks and treats along the way.

Annual Downtown Holiday Open House

Sunday Nov. 9th 12:00-4:00 pm - Kickoff off your holiday season with one of Burlington's favorite events - The Downtown Partners Holiday Open House. The Open house features the giveaway of $1,000 worth of Downtown Dollars, plus delicious snacks & refreshments, photos with Santa and a chance to do some stress-free Christmas shopping. Gather your friends and family and come Downtown for this special day of shopping and fun. Register at all participating merchants and at 4:00 gather in the 400 block of Jefferson to see if you are a winner!

Lighted Christmas Parade

Saturday Nov. 29th at 5:00 pm - A holiday tradition that gets bigger, brighter and better every year! What a perfect opportunity to gather with family and friends and make some holiday memories. Find a comfortable spot along Jefferson Street and relax while you watch one of Burlington's best shows. And it's FREE! It's a very special evening in Downtown that will truly get you into the holiday spirit - especially when you see Santa Claus coming down the lane. The parade begins at 8th & Jefferson Street and proceeds east down Jefferson to Main Street. Every Thursday evening through December - 4:00-7:00 pm - Extended hours are offered at many of our Downtown stores.

The 10th Annual Living Windows

Thursday December 4th - 6:00-8:00 pm - Join us in on Thursday December 4th and experience a magical night in Downtown Burlington. More than 65 window fronts will come alive during the 10th annual living windows celebration! This huge holiday event sponsored by The Hawk Eye will include carolers, drama clubs, a live nativity, church choirs, Santa Claus, Free Horse drawn trolley rides and much more. Living Windows has become one of Southeast Iowa's favorite holiday events and includes complimentary food & beverages at many of the Downtown stores. Plus you'll have an opportunity to do some Christmas shopping, see friends and enjoy the Holiday season.
